How different between「ハマる(hamalu)」and「夢中になる(muchu ni nalu)」?
What is「ハマる(hamalu)」「夢中になる(muchu ni nalu)」？
「ハマる(hamalu)」and「夢中になる(muchu ni nalu)」have the same meaning of “Be into something”. When Japanese learners ask the difference, almost Japanese people must answer “these are totally same”. Then I have a question.

There is slightly difference.
Let’s compere these two words.
「ハマる(hamalu)」
「ハマる(hamalu)」means to find something new and interesting.
The thing could be a new hobby, or could lose interest in it afterwards.
It is the image like being into a new thing suddenly.
And It is a slang, so it can use only daily conversations.
「夢中になる(muchu ni nalu)」
On the other hand,「夢中になる(muchu ni nalu)」means to think only about it while to forget sleeping, eating or something to do.
The meaning of the Kanji is “in the dream”, so it is a state where nothing else can be thought of.
